Hi & welcome to the Kathryn Wilson Photography website.

My love for photography grew out of a love for design, graphics, and storytelling – and nothing keeps stories and memories alive like photos. My decision to pursue photography more seriously began with the image you can see at the bottom of the page.  It’s not a professional portrait – it’s just a snapshot of my nephew at the beach. But for me, the moment I saw this image I fell in love.  To me, this photo is summer, and family, and New Zealand, and fun and baby squeals of delight.  When I saw it, I realised that I wanted to know how to create images that made people feel something like the way I feel when I look at this.

I now operate my photography business part-time, alongside my amazing husband Michael, who shoots with me. We have been married for almost 4 years now, and live in Upper Hutt with Baxter, the fluffiest and most fabulous puppy around. I watch a little too much television, I love words, I’m not ashamed to admit how much I love Harry Potter, and I’m one of those people who will go back to a restaurant over and over and always order the same thing.  To get to know even more about us, we’d love you to take a look through our posts on the blog and look at more of our work.
